The breast lift surgery is conducted under anesthesia, so patients should not feel pain during the procedure itself. After the surgery, patients may experience mild pain and discomfort as their bodies adjust. Any swelling or bleeding will reduce over the next week following the procedure and can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication or prescription pain medication prescribed by Dr. Familusi.

Breast lift patients will need several appointments to make sure their breast shape and size have settled into their desired look. Dr. Familusi will monitor her patients’ healing progression over several follow-up appointments up to a year after the initial surgery to ensure that patient recovery is going smoothly and that the results are satisfactory. The exact number of appointments necessary will be discussed in the individual consultation.

Dr. Familusi likes to monitor her patients to be sure they are healing well and their results exceed their expectations. While every patient recovers on their own timeline, breast lift patients are encouraged to wait until their swelling has reduced before evaluating their final results. The swelling will dissipate every month, but final results usually take approximately six months.

Immediately after a breast lift, the incision will be noticeable as it is in the early healing stages. Over time, the scars will fade and flatten out, taking several months to a year. The final appearance of the scars depends on the surgery technique and the patient’s biological response to the procedure. Dr. Familusi will make recommendations for the best way to support scar maturation for the best results.

Most patients can resume normal exercise about six weeks after surgery. However, recovery times vary from person to person, so you should consult with Dr. Familusi before returning to more strenuous activities.
