Chemical peels are formulated with a customized solution that chemically exfoliates the outer layer of damaged skin cells. Peels are categorized as light, medium, or deep, allowing for a high degree of customization when it comes to targeting each patient’s unique skincare concerns. Acids in a chemical peel raise the skin’s pH level in order to dislodge dead skin cells, dirt, debris, bacteria, and oil, leaving behind a healthier, blemish-free complexion.
Dr. Familusi will conduct a private consultation in Atlanta, GA, to determine the best approach for accomplishing your goals. In general, she performs the following types of chemical peels:
Light peels—Light peels rely on alpha-hydroxy acid to gently remove the outermost layer of compromised skin. They can be undergone every six weeks and require the least amount of recovery time.
Medium peels – Medium peels are made with trichloroacetic or glycolic acid. They produce more dramatic results than light peels but also come with more downtime. Patients can undergo a medium peel every 4-6 months.
Deep peels—A patient will require a deep peel only once every 3-5 years, and some will only need to undergo one in their lifetime. The peel utilizes phenol or trichloroacetic acid to achieve powerful rejuvenation results that transform the skin’s tone and texture.
